Kids are ready to play outdoors, when it is even extremely cold
Today the temp in Yakutsk went down almost to -45C. Immediately the press center of the city hall reminded inhabitants about the mayor’s order dated Dec. 4, 2009, regarding schools’ work in cold weather.
According to this order, kids of the 1st – 5th grades may stay at home at -45C. When it is -48C, schools are closed for the 1st – 8th grades boys and girls. At -50C kids of all 11 grades are legally allowed not to study, they may enjoy free time. The listed restrictions, however, appeared to be obligatory for Yakutsk. Other regions and towns set its own not-to-go-school days. Read the rest of this entry…
There is a bunch of local friends, who love hiking through the real Siberian taiga near Yakutsk in summer. On June 6, 2006, three of them, Artem, Kallamish and Sergey went into the forest as usual. That time they decided to hike around the famous Kyjma Lake. Not a good place for BBQ, believe me.
Kyjma is the place where a long time ago a shaman lived and died. At present young people do not have faith in the power of shaman and his everlasting presence on the earth, even after his death. Well. That’s the story. Three guys visited this place and took along a video cam…
103 is a Pokrovsk-origin rock band, that applies Yakut ethno tunes in its performance. 103’s salt is the use of a khomus (Yakut Jew’s harp). Amazing sound! Local experts say these guys may repeat Cholbon’s success and world crusade. Good fellows, indeed. Maybe, anyone wish to help and support them? Kidding, but, nevertheless, consider this chance.
103 is a must to see for live music fans. In Yakutsk you can catch them in the rock bar “Garage.”
P.S. Video was shot and uploaded two years ago. The performance took place in a village. Don’t remember the name of the settlement.
