On Jan. 19th, 2011, the famous Russian actor, promoter, Andrey I, and his Yakutsk-based creative studio «Navigator» started making the world’s biggest (tallest/highest) stalagmite in Russia’s Siberian city of Yakutsk.
The stalagmite is going to be 30 metres in height. It is being created by an unique technology invented by Navigator fellows. In short, water is sprayed on its top, it freezes and creates a new ice layer after a layer. The base was done with the help of a Yakutsk fire-brigade.
The world’s biggest stalagmite will be called Serge, the Way to the Sky. In the Yakut culture, Serge is a national name of a tether.
Further learn more about the upcoming world record, which its creators hope to get listed in Guinness World Records, and see more pictures.
The construction of the world’s biggest stalagmite is promised to be completed by March 2011.
Below is the non-edited press release written by the Navigator studio:
What to do in Yakutsk?
Creative studio of Andrey I’s Navigator on the basis of the filial of the state educational institution of higher professional education “Baikal State university of Economics and Law” in Yakutsk invite to participate in the project “Icarium -202” as a project partner. The objective of the studio is the formation of the positive image of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the country and in the world. The studio is oriented on the complex development of the “frost” tourism.
Touristic ice complex “Icarium -202” will be situated in the center of the capital of Yakutia – Yakutsk. It will comprise the following objects: open-air skating rink, the longest children’s hill in Yakutsk, ice pyramids, the highest stalagmite, and a speleolabyrinth.
Speleolabyrinth: Tourism with speleolabyrinth is unbelievably popular all over the world. However! There is no speleolabyrinth in the world! The labyrinth will be a huge icy object of approximately 5x10x20 meters in size. The inner perimeter of it will be illuminated with lamps of “cold” light, enlightening the whole icy object. According to a specially worked out program (both technological and methodical) a complicated labyrinth of narrow manholes will be excavated inside the ice object. Three possible routes are proposed: PROFESSIONAL, AMATEUR and for CHILDREN.
Sergeh, the Way to the Sky, the word’s biggest man-created stalagmite:
Among the specially established records there was no attempt to artificially construct a high ice stalagmite (“an icicle” that rises from the ground to the sky), using only unfrozen water. Connected with the tendency of global warming, the project Sergeh – the Way to the Sky is coordinated with international series of acts Struggle for the Future of Mankind. The height of the ice stalagmite will be no less than 30 meters. The place of the project realization is Yakutsk.
Ice Pyramid: There is a lot said about the magic of pyramid, but all its mysteries will never be completely discovered. In the frames of the ice complex “Icarium” an ice pyramid of classical proportions is planned to be built. The height of the pyramid will be about 7 meters. However, the matter is not in size, but in its unusual results, both as a touristic attraction and as a unique cultural experiment. Ice pyramid is a multilayer combination. The mysterious unction of the form of traditional pyramid mixes with the function of ice – “frozen” energy of water. And that is a unique possibility of braided spring which is ready and tends to straighten – this is a certain form of energy contained in the ice.
Taking into consideration the fact that the opening of the pyramid will be in summer – energetic pressure of ice will increase greatly! Previously, before the raise of the temperature of the atmosphere it will be reliably isolated from heat. An entrance will be excavated across the inner side of the ICE PYRAMID. And anyone can find himself in the center of concentration of the above mentioned energy in summer heat for a certain time,… among ice and heat.
