Inspired by the North, Siberia, Russia. By Anna Osipova

This time we proudly present another talented young artist from the Siberian region of Yakutia. It’s Anna Osipova (her page at ArtBreak.com).

Anna graduated the Far Eastern State Academy of Arts. Currently she creates her masterpieces at the Ural-Siberian studio of the Russian Academy of Artists. Her early works were inspired by the North and reindeer herders’ life. How it was strong, check yourself.

Below find Anna Osipova’s paintings. Read the rest of this entry…

In former Soviet days only secretary-generals and astronauts were given the honor of having sculptures when they were alive. Nowadays, even a dog, of remote taiga, can admire its own sculpture. Nevertheless, the monument dedicated to a faithful companion is the first experience in Yakutia.

A faithful Nord with a reindeer

A faithful Nord with a reindeer

How did a shaggy haired hero deserve such high recognition? In short, by faithful, self-denying service to his master – Nikolay Kalitin, an Evenk writer, whose ancestral farm has hosted that unique sculpture work. That’s the very way Nikolay decided to celebrate the 12th anniversary of his canine friend. A very venerable age!

A blue-eyed laika (more about the Yakut laika at SiberianHuskies.co) lives in Kalitin’s estate – in the area of the Buotama river, the land of the Morsos, a famous princely Evenk family whose tree was officially fixed in the 18th century. His ancestry was really princely. In Pushkin’s time, the writer’s great-grandfather was a prince and had appropriate fasces, including a nominal dirk given by the Russian Emperor.

Yakutia plus women plus diamonds. A great promo combination for EPL Diamond LLC

EPL Diamond LLC, Yakutsk-based company that cuts ALROSA’s diamonds and produces its own jewelry, has the right to use the motto “EPL Diamond. Brilliants of Yakutia.” Indeed, diamonds it uses are mined, cut and crafted in Yakutia.

Another great thing the company has is its product promotion policy. In all promo materials you can see beautiful Yakutian ladies with no less beautiful jewelry with installed Yakutian brilliants.

Yakutia. Plus Yakutian women. Plus brilliants. What a great combination of components! It’s enough to reveal the whole purely magical exotic Siberian beauty in one promo piece.

An image of a Sakha Theater performance decor and costumes by Vladimir D. Ivanov. Yakutsk, Siberia, Russia.

I am really, really a big fan of Sakha Theater. I love everything they did, do and will do. Recently I got a fantastic CD solely dedicated to the Sakha Theater set design. That’s a presentation disc, that gives profound information about the theater, its decor history, artists and their works. Saying a big thank to ST for providing me with the disc.

In this post I am presenting Vladimir D. Ivanov, an art director of the Sakha Theater, who worked almost thirty years ago. Further, please, find his profile and images of his works. Read the rest of this entry…

Previously we informed about Aubry Francine’s upcoming photo exhibit in Southern France, precisely in the tourisom office showroom of Aix en Provence. Now we have the good news. The exhibit happened on October 4th-17th, 2010, and it was very successful.

Aubry with the help of the Russian club “Datcha Kalina” and the famous explorer-director, Nicolas Vanier, displayed 35 portraits of Yakut children and the frescoes of drawings by kids from Yakutia, France , Belgium, Portugal and Cameroon on the theme of global warming.

Aubry Francine provided us with photos taken during the opening ceremony. They are very impressive. Saying a lot of thanks to her. For her devotion to kids and readiness to help them worlwide, including Yakutia.

Who is Aubry? She is a France-based educator, who helped a lot to a French-Sakha school in the Yakutian village of Khamagatta, 1 hour ride north off Yakutsk. She is a big person.

By the way, dear friends, if you are interested in this exhibit to happen at your place, just let her know. She will be glad to arrange it in your city/town/settlement.

Further, please, find more event photographs.

Stepanida Borisova and Sakha Theatre in Paris

Found out that Stepanida Borisova and Sakha Theatre gave performance in Paris on Sept. 24th, 2010. A few friends’ status updates informed about that event. It was a small event arranged by Yakutsk University known currently as North-Eastern Federal University.

Emilie Maj noted that Stepanida Borisova’s concert was beautiful. A very uncommon version of Olonkho (Yakut heroic epos), she said.

Another news breaker was Bernard Grua, who kindly allowed to publish his photographs on the eYakutia blog. By the way, here is what he writes:

“Never travel without your camera… I was in Paris for a couple of days. During my last evening in this city, I was told there was a performance of actors from Sakha National Theater. Fortunately, I had a memory card in my wallet. I put it in Vera’s small camera. Sometimes in photos emotions are bigger than quality. That’s why I like these pics.”

Futher, please, see more photographs. Read the rest of this entry…
