The 2012 Miss Virtual Yakutia online beauty pageant. Beginning.

As far as you know, SakhaInternet LLC, a major Yakutsk City portal owner, hosts annual Miss Virtual Yakutia online beauty contest, that gives all Yakutian young ladies a chance to show their beauty online and get evaluation, awards and people’s recognition.

It has been conducted since 1999. Currently, it is one of major events of the year.

Good news! The 2012 Miss Virtual Yakutia contest has started.

Here’s the schedule:

Nov. 25, 2011 – Jan. 25, 2012. Participants application period.
Feb. 1 – 7, 2012. Semifinal online voting.
Feb. 24 – March 2, 2012. Final voting.
March 7, 2012. Final show. The winner announcement.

As you know, every December Yakutsk hosts the Miss Yakutia beauty contest. It is not done online. Everything happens on stage. See how the beauty pageant went in 2011.

Winter starts from Yakutia! This is how a new travel project is called. What’s that? A good question.

Officials, who are responsible for tourism development in Russia’s Republic of Sakha-Yakutia, have been thinking over tricks of attracting tourists to Yakutia. They spent much time on that work. Indeed, it was a hard mission.

Yakutia is located pretty far away and, moreover, it’s huge and impossible to travel across in a short span of time and see all exotic things at once. What to do?

Three years ago, Yakutsk City Hall held its first Stroganina Festival. Stroganina is a delicous national dish made out of the fresh frozen Arctic broad whitefishes, whitefishes, and white salmons. See the above photo. By the way, the full photo report on that event is available at AskYakutia.com.

Yakutsk people liked such an event. As a result, it is arranged now annually in the early December. Locals started thinking why not inviting friends and other people to Yakutsk just for the sake of Stroganina Fest.

Early, the Yakut myth hero named Chyskhaan (The Bull of Frost) became popular among local people and used commonly in New Year public events. Nowadays, winter is not imagined without Chyskhaan. It became a Yakut version of Santa Clause and Russia’s Father the Frost.

Hey, by the way, a few times the Pole of Cold Festival in Oymyakon was arranged with all those three winter heroes, Yakutia’s Chyskhaan, Russia’s Ded Moroz (Father the Frost) and Lapland’s Santa Clause.

Since than, Ded Moroz from the Russian city of Veliky Ustyug tends to come to Yakutsk and borrow the cold from Chyskhaan’s hand and continue carrying it across the country to the West and declaring the soon-coming Happy New Year.

Oops, what am I trying to tell you? Oh, yeah, it seems that in the early December we are going to have the annual event called Winter Starts from Yakutia. In short, it will be the moment when we welcome the winter and send it to the rest of the world with all our Yakutian (read, Siberian) greetings.

Apart from the Winter welcome ceremony, we’ll have many other interesting events such as the Stroganina Festival, Ice Sculpture Contests, etc.

Below, please, see photographs taken during the Winter Welcome celebration with Yakutia’s Chyskhaan and his Russian fellow, Ded Moroz (Father the Frost) on one of the city’s major square.

Forgot one thing. It’s better to celebrate the winter, otherwise you’ll be left without snow for Christmas and New Year. Just can’t imagine how it is possible to Merry Christmas & Happy New Year without puffy white snowflakes.Similar Posts:

Yes, just a few days left till Yakutian movies screening in Paris, France. The event will take place on December 15th, 2011.

Location: Movie Theater, the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles, 46, Rue Quincampoix (level-2), 75004 Paris.

Juliana is well known in Yakutia, Siberia / Russia. By the way, she started her career in the first team of Albina Degtyareva’s Ayarkhaan female ensemble.

Yep, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Yakutsk. He arrived right from Hawaii this night.

The purpose of his official visit is to discuss the issues related to housing and communal services and participate in the opening of the last constructed branch line of the railway Berkakit – Tommot – Yakutsk in the settlement of Nizhnyj Bestyakh. This place is located in front of Yakutsk on the opposite bank of the Lena River.

Amazing! The half of the day I had been waiting from local journalists for any photographs of the event, especially of the Nizhnyj Bestyakh event. But… it appeared to be Dmitry Medvedev, who took a picture and uploaded it on his Twitter account @MedvedevRussia.

President Medvedev said that the railway must come to Yakutsk via the bridge over the Lena River, not through the tunnel.

This photo was lately delivered by a Russian news agency.

“103″ is the rock music born in a little Yakutian (Siberian) village of Khatassy

Last weekend, friends of mine, Oe Karpov and Andrey Dyakonov, arranged the great event. It was a BIG city event, but done in a TINY manner. They rented a wooden house in the wooden part of Yakutsk City, invited close friends and let the rock music sound in all power and authenticity.

Yeah, it was the “103″ rock band performing the unique ethno Siberian heavy music. It was utterly awesome!

Frankly, I am a big fan of “103″. Like its story. It is a little group of young people, who arrived into the city from a little Yakutian village called Khatassy by the public bus “103″ a few years ago. This village is mainly known as the producer of pork & beef. Nothing special could appear over there, apart from the delicious meat.

And here they are. Authentic ethno rock music! Delivered by guys, who learned to play musical instrument themselves in a little wooden village hall. By the way, they use the sound of the khomus, Yakut Jews-harp instrument.

Immediately they became popular in Yakutsk. They are one of the most respected bands in the city. And you know what? It’s hard to see them performing currently, as the rock music is their hobby. They are ordinary guys, who have ordinary jobs and who, apart from one guy, still live in the village. The singer, for instance, works in a store as a customer manager. Why? They need to feed their kids.

When they take instruments, they became extremely extraordinary!
