Russian architect Pavel Sipin’s project «Tundra City» (a futuristic city located in the abandoned Udachny diamond pit in West Yakutia’s Mirninsky region) deserved Honorable Mention at eVolo’s 2012 Skyscraper Competition.

The city of Udachny is used for the futuristic city architectural project not for the first time. Its name means «lucky» in the Russian language, but its fate doensn’t look as such.

A $3 million Hublot Geneve BB Watch with Yakutian diamonds
This week Hublot Geneve, the Swiss watchmaker, presented the 2 MILLION € BB watch with Yakutian diamonds.
More than 140 carats. 637 baguette diamonds. 1 rose cut diamond on the crown. As the company says, a Vendôme Tourbillon movement to appeal to more expert eyes.
All diamonds were mined and polished in Yakutia. The way to go! Yakutian diamonds are worth to rock the world!
«This is a unique piece, a one-off, an even wilder gamble, a breathtaking expression of expertise providing a level of purity, colour, cut, finish and uniformity of the whole piece which is a truly rare feat,» says Hublot Geneve.

AB Ellis, the Russian architectural bureau, has developed a very futuristic project called Eco-City 2020. It proposes to build the eco-city inside the crater located on the edge of Mirny, Yakutia, Siberia/Russia.
AB Ellis is offering to construct a gigantic structure inside the man-made crater with a diameter of 1 km and a depth of 550 m. In the very diamond mine crater that is depicted in many photographs of Mirny and considered as one of the world’s largest ones.
As far as you know, Mirny is the city where ALROSA, the Russian diamond mining company, is based, and it is the administrative center of Mirny region famous for Yakutian diamonds.
EPL Diamond LLC, Yakutsk-based company that cuts ALROSA’s diamonds and produces its own jewelry, has the right to use the motto “EPL Diamond. Brilliants of Yakutia.” Indeed, diamonds it uses are mined, cut and crafted in Yakutia.

Diamonds, diamonds, diamonds! They are ladies’ best friends. They are clean and precious and beautiful. And, you know what, the land of Sakha (Yakutia) has a lot of them under the surface. There were even a joke. There are so many diamonds in Yakutia that locals tend to use them in football instead of balls. A pretty funny, but the funniest thing is that outside people believe in it 
Whatever we, residents of Yakutia, may say about these crystals, diamonds are the first thing that comes in association with my land. So I decided to continue brilliant topic. The railway is close to Yakutsk. On April 27, 2010, Yakutia-Sakha News Agency reported that the Berkakit — Tommot — Yakutsk railway construction had reached the border of the Khangalassky region. TransStroy-Vostok has already completed 644 km. The 1st train is expected to arrive at Nizhnyj Bestyakh Station (on the opposite bank of the Lena River in front of Yakutsk) in 2013. The construction of the bridge of the Lena River will be started this year.
