At the end of November, when the real Siberian winter was getting colder and colder, three young guys decided to ski from the village of Elanka to the famous Lena Pillars (stone pillars) located on the Lena River bank a few hundreds of km south from the city of Yakutsk. Merry Christmas, friends! Let this one be happy and full of wonderful miracles! All the best to your family and beloved! Decided to publish another set of Yakutsk winter pictures. Here it is still cold. Frosty and foggy. Cold weather in its extremes. We had a few days with temperatures at -50C and below. We are waiting for the New Year holidays and Orthodox Christmas (Jan. 7). So the following street pics depict our daily life. They were taken on my old mibile phone.

I had a sort of schedule… of what and when to publish… but Vitaly Toko ruined everything. He regreted that he didn’t make it to Yakutia’s Kolyma this autumn. He worked here for many, many, many years. Actually, he spent all his best years in Yakutia and he’s got a lot of photographs of the biggest Siberian region. Two days ago Vitalya created a video slideshow using his pictures of Yakutia and Vyacheslav Butusov’s song «Moya Zvezda» (My Star). Why does he love this remote Northern area? What…

Here is another set of media files done on the iPhone in today’s cold winter morning and noon. The outdoor temp was -44C. I love my iPhone, but after 10-15 minutes of its use in the cold weather in Yakutsk, it’s totally useless. However, take a look at the above video done this morning, while I was standing on the crossroad near the city hall, and winter…

Yesterday night France24 TV Online Channel made the skype interview. They gave me the list of questions. The first one was «What was the atmosphere in the city today?» Here is my answer. It is done in the form of the video made in Yakutsk, Siberia/Russia, this morning, December 09, 2010, at 8.40 am, when we had -43C. The winter life in the coldest city on Earth seems to us pretty ordinary. We woke up in the morning, rush to our work places, do our work and back…

If you are interested in how winter is progressing in its begining in the Siberian city of Yakutsk, look at mobile photos below. The first picture (above) was taken at midday on Nov. 28, 2010. The temp was -40C. The second photo (below) was done at 9 am on Nov. 30, 2010. Do you see the opposite building?…

This video I shot a year ago on Dec. 7, 2008. It was minus 40C only. It has 15679 views on YouTube. This is a big number to me.
